Meet the Director

Luz Sanabria-Reyes was born and raised in Nicaragua and she is fluent in Spanish and English. Her personal experiences with the transition of migrating into a different country have influenced her passion for servicing those in vulnerable positions and advocating for underserved communities.

Mrs. Sanabria-Reyes attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she obtained a master’s degree in Social Work studies with a concentration in Community Practice and Policy Development.

Ms. Sanabria-Reyes brings a mix of expertise in disaster response and social services, along with competencies in the private sector. Her disaster experience includes working with hurricane Matthew survivors as a Disaster Case Manager. Mrs. Sanabria-Reyes served as the Macro Social Work intern during hurricane Florence at Catholic Charities Fayetteville Regional Office. At Catholic Charities, Mrs. Sanabria-Reyes helped organized the immediate response of disaster relief donations for three different counties.  These experiences allowed Mrs. Sanabria-Reyes to gain valuable knowledge on disaster resources and to create effective relationships with community leaders.

In her free time, Mrs. Sanabria-Reyes enjoys spending time with her husband, two children, and two dogs Grayce and Mimi.

With CDRC will be overseeing the continuing case management of Hurricane Matthew and Florence survivors.

CDRC-NC is thankful to Church World Service (www.CWSGlobal.org) for their continuing partnership in the disaster relief work in Cumberland County. They assist by serving as a fiscal agent in personnel matters.
